In keeping with its goal of providing value for membership in the NSBA,
members and their families are eligible to apply for one of 5 NSBA
scholarships valued at $500 each. The scholarships are for the purpose of
helping NSBA members and their families with the burden of college or
technical school expenses.
Our purpose in awarding these scholarships is to reward those students that
have worked at after school and summer jobs, participated in school
extra-curricular activities and maintain an average to above average
academic achievement.
ACADEMIC STANDARDS
As stated, the NSBA scholarships are intended for those students that are
active in extra-curricular school and still maintain an average to above
average academic rating. The academic rating, in general, is the top
one-third of their high school graduating class. Standardized test scores
should range as follows: ACT Composite, from 18 to 26 SAT combined Verbal
and Math scores should range from 850 to 1190.
ELIGIBILITY
High school seniors that are the dependents of dues-paying NSBA members are
eligible to apply. The parents of scholarship winners must also be
dues-paying NSBA members at the time the scholarships are awarded.
SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS.
At least five $500 scholarships will be awarded each year. These
scholarships are for one year. Each year a new set of winners will be
selected. The scholarship will be applied to the educational expenses at any
accredited college, university, vocational or technical school selected by
the award winner.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
In February of each year an announcement will be made on this website that
applications will be accepted for the following school year. Applications
will be accepted until April 15 following the announcement.

SELECTION PROCESS
In order to assure impartiality in the evaluation of applicants and the
selection of winners, an independent committee made up of educators ,
businessmen and business women will select winners The selection committee
will evaluate the applicant's academic records, test scores, extracurricular
activities, after school and summer employment and recommendations. The
committee will not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, religion or
national origin. All applicants will be notified of the results by May 15.
PAYMENT OF SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS
In August (earlier if requested) checks will be mailed to scholarship
recipients. Checks will be made payable to the institution requested by the
recipient. |
